The Harold Made Easy with Maria Peters
The Harold improv format is an essential skill set for anyone looking to upgrade their improv to the next level.
It pushes you to listen more deeply, play with greater creativity, and build stories that stick with an audience far beyond a single scene. Whether you’ve been performing The Harold for a while or have only heard rumours about it, these 6 x workshops will guide you through both foundations and advanced techniques, all while boosting your confidence in a fun, supportive, and welcoming space.
Level 3: Performing Improv – Creating Characters
This seven-week course introduces the tools, techniques, and tricks used to create characters on-the-spot. You’ll explore how characters can emerge and grow through physicality, status, and the relationships between characters - building your confidence in stepping into another person’s shoes when you perform.

Lunchtime Improv with Rebecca MacMillan
Join our lunchtime improv comedy classes at Bristol Improv Theatre for a creative power-up! Perfect for creatives & freelancers, these drop-in sessions with Rebecca MacMillan support you to explore your inner playfulness, boost your confidence and wellbeing, and unlock your inner comic genius. No previous experience needed – just come and enjoy the spontaneity!
Level 1: Discovering Improv
This six-week course is a voyage through spontaneity, creativity, and connection. Our experienced instructors will guide you through games, exercises, and reflections that will equip you with the tools to improvise, both on stage and off.
Level 4: Performing Improv – Exploring Narrative
This 7 week course explores how to tell a satisfying shared story on stage through the medium of improvised narrative. Using Keith Johnstone inspired exercises and techniques, we'll delve into constructing story arcs and engaging in supportive ensemble work, as well as exploring a number of tools to shake up and inspire participants' scenework skills.
