Our Unscripted Players Big April Show comes to our stage THIS WEEK! We’re super excited to see two brand new, improvised productions from our talented players. But first, let’s introduce you to the casts!
Emma
If you knew the apocalypse was coming, what would you do? Pack a bag. Pack too much. Take things out of the bag. Have too little packed. Pack more things. Then too late the apocalypse is here.
If you could pick anyone to be in your apocalyptic gang, who would it be? A bunch of improvisers That would be a good crew maybe each with a specialist survival skill.
What would be your top tip for surviving an apocalypse? Keep hydrated.
What’s been your favourite moment in rehearsals? Adapting classic improv games to have a post apocolyptic twist!
What’s your favourite thing about improv? Spontaneity, being in the moment and collaboration.
Why should people come and see the show? It’s a wonderful chance to come and see two shows that have never been seen before and that will be different each time you see them!
James
If the world was ending, what one thing would you save? Christmas. Using the power of friendship.
What would be your top tip for surviving an apocalypse? Try to be inside or near an IKEA when it all kicks off, because a lot of folk will start calling dibs pretty early.
What are you looking forward to about the shows? Not knowing until the last second whether we’re pitching for a gritty, hyper-realistic tale of brutal survival or just going full loco, à la Mad Max, with ridiculous monikers, paper-thin fake religions and unplaceable accents.
What’s your favourite thing about UP? The fact that there really is no limit to the scope of the shows that people can pitch or get involved in. If we took an improvised post apocalyptic show like this to any other organisation, we’d probably be politely asked to leave.
What’s your favourite thing about improv? It reminds me that I don’t need to solely rely on having a writing degree to be a creative person. We can all just get up there and make something amazing right now, even if we’re total strangers.
Michael
If you knew the apocalypse was coming, what would you do?Probably stop trying to improve my credit score
If the world was ending, what one thing would you save? Pina Coladas. Sit back, sip a drink with a pink umbrella, and watch the world burn.
How long do you think you would last after an apocalypse Probably until it stops being fun.
If you could pick anyone to be in your apocalyptic gang, who would it be? Same as my celebrity dinner party list: Ernest Hemingway, Einstein, Jesus, Barack Obama, Audrey Hepburn.
What are you looking forward to about the shows? Seeing all the various ways that the world can be ruined
Why should people come and see the show? If you don’t and the apocalypse happens, you’ll be kicking yourself.
Petia
If you knew the apocalypse was coming, what would you do? I will make a list! Medicines, durable food, spare walking gear, gasoline, knives, matches, cooking pot, lantern… And find a secret location to store my stash of survival gear.
If the world was ending, what one thing would you save? Dentistry, and if that is too much to ask: toothpaste.. Oh, I should add this to my list!
If you could pick anyone to be in your apocalyptic gang, who would it be? Depends, if we are to be in a bunker – a selection of musicians and improvisers as they will be fun to be around. If we are roaming the wilderness: a medic, an engineer, a soldier and a cook. Come to think of it, I will be the first to be eaten as I will be adding the least value…
What are you looking forward to about the shows? Just sharing the show with everyone so that they can enjoy it as much as we are.
Why should people come and see the show? It is a great concept, and the UP Shows are just a blast, the night is full of unique energy, and … can be deadly (muahaha).
Will
If you knew the apocalypse was coming, what would you do? Run around in hysterical panic until it arrived.
What would be your top tip for surviving an apocalypse? Saucepan on the head, will prevent most apocalypse related injuries.
How long do you think you would last after an apocalypse? There’s the “Rule of threes” when it comes to survival: 3 minutes without air, 3 hours in extreme conditions, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food. I’d probably last about 3 seconds.
What are you looking forward to about the shows? Producing some incredible slow-mo action sequences, just like in the movies!
Why should people come and see the show? Although it’s not primarily an educational show, the audience will learn valuable lessons about how to survive in post-apocalyptic conditions
What’s your favourite thing about improv? Creating stories and playing games in a great community!
