Saturday 22nd November | 14:00 – 17:00
Welcome to The Improv Lab! Join us at The Bristol Improv Theatre for a Saturday afternoon to watch various groups from the local Bristol improv community. For FREE!
These groups could be showcasing brand new shows, formats, changes to existing shows or just simply be getting in more practice. You’ll also have a chance to provide valuable feedback and help shape the shows’ futures.
The Improv Lab is hosted in the bar of the Bristol Improv Theatre. The bar will be open, so come on in and enjoy a hot or cold drink with an afternoon of free shows and an improv jam where you can join in.
Doors open at 2pm and the first show will go on at 2.20pm. When arriving, please head straight to the bar and grab a seat. Groups may be warming up at the back of the room before the show and during the interval.
For November’s Lab, we have:
- Channel Hoppers – A fast-paced, dynamic improv comedy show, loosely inspired by the hit TV format Gogglebox. Audience suggestions drive what is performed on the TV, interspersed with viewers’ reactions, who wield the ultimate control: they can pause, rewind, or fast-forward the action, forcing instant, often hilarious, adjustments from the performers. Changing channels brings a cast rotation and a fresh mix of relationships and comedic connections.
- Blame of Thrones – A gripping political court drama! This royal court is teeming with Machiavellian schemers, each vying for power. As the Monarch lingers on their deathbed, who will outmanoeuvre the rest to become the all-powerful successor?
- Tales From The Wasteland – Shelter from the nuclear winter inside the safety of our bunker and listen to tales from storytellers from across the wasteland! These tales may feature raiders, mutants, adventure, and, of course, will be entirely made up on the spot, fueled by your suggestions! This absurd dark comedy is inspired by shows such as Fallout and Mad Max.
- Up The Antics’ Christmas Playlist is the new show by the award-winning Bristol-based Sketch and Improv Group. The Antics will perform scenes and sketches inspired by a playlist of festive bangers submitted by you, the audience!
– “Brilliantly Witty” EdFringeReview
– Leicester Square Sketch Off Semi-Finalists
– Best Episodic – International Comedy Film Festival
