Performing Improv L1 is a programme of four seven-week classes, which rotate throughout the year: Creating Characters, Telling Stories, Making a Scene and Singing Songs.
Each course approaches performing improvisation through a different lens and teaches you a new set of skills. They can be taken in any order, or completed individually. All the courses end with a showcase for invited family and friends to share what you’ve learned.
In ‘Telling Stories’, we use Keith Johnstone-inspired techniques to practice crafting and shaping our ability to tell satisfying stories on the spot. Students will have the chance to build their communication skills & confidence when telling stories and train narrative instincts to help grab and sustain audience interest. An excellent course for writers, performers or anyone who wants to bring storytelling into their life and work.
Who is this course for?
- Students who have completed Discovering Improv & Intro to Performing Improv and want to take the next step
- Performers who have some improv experience and want to develop their improvised scene work skills
- Anyone who has learned improv elsewhere and wants to start learning with the Bristol Improv Theatre school
