Saturday 4th May | 17:00 – 19:00 (with a performance 20:00 – 22:00)

This fun and friendly workshop for people from Global Majority backgrounds is open to all levels – you can be completely new to improv or looking to brush up on your basics and practise improv in a different context. The workshop will be led by immensely talented instructors from Do The Right Scene, the hilarious and generous group who also happen to be the UK’s first all-Black improv comedy team.

But wait, there’s more: participants will also have the chance to take to the stage in the first half of Do The Right Scene’s show at the Bristol Improv Theatre later that evening! You’ll be supported by the team, especially if you’re brand new to improv. And if you don’t want to perform, why not stay and watch?

The event is pay what you decide but please let us know you’re coming via the link as places are limited!

The Bristol Improv theatre uses the term people of the Global Majority to encompass people from ethnic backgrounds that are or have historically been minoritised in the UK, including Black and Asian people and people from other racialised minority backgrounds.

This event is part of the DIASPORA! Festival

Do The Right Scene

Do The Right Scene is a dope-ass improv comedy group who are all about fast-paced comedy with sauce and are furiously funny. With credits on Comedy Central, BBC 1, BBC 3, Sky TV and Radio 4 they’re the UK’s first all-Black improv comedy team and a must see!

About DIASPORA!

DIASPORA! is an arts festival for Bristol and the South West, which aims to showcase and better reflect the variety of talent within the region’s cultural communities.

Developed, produced, and presented by the Diverse Artists Network (DAN), and taking place this year for the very first time, the festival will platform artists from underrepresented cultural backgrounds. Meaning people from, largely, the diasporas of countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Central and South America. (Please note this is not a definitive list of underrepresented cultures or diasporas.)

Working in collaboration with a host of iconic venues, community initiatives, and well-loved institutions, DIASPORA! is set to be a vibrant celebration of people, music, film, poetry, dance, storytelling, and more!
