Opportunities for Improvisers in Bristol

We’re so lucky to have such a great improv scene in Bristol! There are loads of opportunities for improvisers (or aspiring improvisers!) to rehearse, perform, watch shows and meet new people. We’ve compiled a list highlighting just a few of them – scroll for more details.

Improv Allstars

Improv Allstars is a monthly compilation comedy show at the Room Above. Expect quick-fire improv from the Room Above’s short form squad, followed by three mini shows from local improv teams. The night happens on the second Thursday of each month, with the next show on the 14th of March. For more information, head to the Room Above website, or the Improv Allstars Facebook or Instagram.

Bristol Longform Comedy

Bristol Longform Comedy run lots of courses, workshops and drop-ins for those wanting to learn more about longform improvised comedy. Their latest project, ‘Meet Troupe’, allows improvisers to meet each other and try games and scenes, with a view to starting new teams. To see what they have coming up, head to their Facebook or Instagram, or check out their website bristollongform.weebly.com.

Improv Spotlight

Improv Spotlight is a new improvised comedy night showcasing local groups, and platforming new performances. The next one is on Saturday 2nd of March at the People’s Republic of Stokes Croft. For more information head to the People’s Republic of Stokes Croft website.

Improv Lab

The Improv Lab is a new, semi-regular session at the Bristol Improv Theatre, run by community member Pete Leaman. The Lab involves four local groups showcasing their work to each other (and a supportive audience) on a weekend afternoon, allowing them to try out new ideas. Whether you’re watching or performing, this is a great opportunity to get inspired, network and support others in the community. The next lab is on Saturday 9th March 2PM – 5PM, in the bar at the Bristol Improv Theatre. For more information, head to the Bristol Improv Theatre Website.

Hodgeprov

HodgeProv is a monthly improv comedy night at Cafe Kino, featuring sets from local groups and improv jams. They seem to be taking a break, but follow their Facebook page for updates!

Who else is out there? If you run or know of another brilliant improv event in or near Bristol, get in touch!
