As they prepare to take to the BIT stage once again, we asked this stellar line-up of Improv talent what their most memorable moments have been at the theatre. They had some cracking stories to share…

The cast of The Bish Bosh Bash:

‘It’s a simple moment but sticks in my mind! I was a captain a Star Trek-style bridge scene in one show. We were set up statically across the stage and I think I was monologuing to the audience or something, not really paying attention to my surroundings. I was asking each crew member’s opinion on a big space problem and when I turned to see Marie for the first time in the scene I just lost all composure; she had made the strong choice to wrap a corset/bra thing around her head, with only her startled eyes peeking out. A silent, absurd alien First Officer character that broke me to this day’

‘Here are some pics from a recent rehearsal, which was memorable because:

In true show style, we boshed together a bunch of exercises – this is Viewpoints plus The Machine plus a Liz Allen exercise that I can’t remember the name of – all in the pursuit of ensemble building and having fun.

Even though our show is a sort of competition, everything is about ensemble: delighting and inspiring each other and the audience. And as you can see from one of the pics – doesn’t matter if your team win or lose, cuz in improv, everyone’s a star!’

The cast of What’s Your Star Sign?:

‘At the Improv Theatre in November our show coincided with Black Friday. Reading aloud the horoscope from the newspaper it was clear that it was urging the reader to make significant impulse purchases. “Coincidentally” there was a giant Amazon ad on the next page. Then we somehow picked a helicopter pilot from our audience to chat to. Exciting! Naturally someone had to buy a helicopter online and store it in their flat with a lot of difficulty.

In every show we love to show the consequences of decisions, pick up on little details, bring big energy and always always follow the fun things.’

‘We had so much fun at the Little Improv Festival with golf club fraud and the dubious ethics of lawyers Johnston & Johnston (Unaffiliated) who represented both sides of the case. All of that from a single horoscope in the most reasonably priced newspaper that we’re willing to spend money on. Which is the joy of improv, that a whole show can be spun out of such a simple prompt and a discussion with an audience member. We can’t wait to see what the stars have in store this Saturday at the Antics Summer Party!’
