The Bristol Improv Theatre is looking for improvisers to be part of its cast for Silent Movie Improv.
The show is taking place on the evening of the Saturday 15th August 2026. This is a paid opportunity on a profit share basis.

What is the show?
Silent Movie Improv will be made up of three or four short 20 minute acts performed in the style of silent movies from the early days of cinema, with live musical accompaniment. Each act will be a separate “movie” and feature a cast of up to 5 improvisers, who will use physical expression and collaboration to tell their improvised narrative without dialogue.
What are we looking for?
We are not looking for performers of any single specific gender, age, ethnicity or appearance, however we are looking to have a variety of representation across these characteristics where possible. We also want to find out more about who is applying for these opportunities, so we do ask about some of these characteristics in our application form.
We are looking for people with experience and confidence in narrative improvisation performance (i.e. improvising scenes that develop and progress a story that is shown, not narrated). As this is silent improv (no talking or verbalising!) we are looking for improvisers who are attentive to their scene partners and confident in mime, space-work and physical expression.
Depending on the level of interest we will either cast 5-6 players who potentially be in every act or “movie”, or we will extend the cast to include more people (up to 16) and have different sets of players for each act or “movie”.
Show and Rehearsal Schedule
Show date: Saturday 15th August at 7.30pm
Rehearsals: In order to be considered for the show you must be available to rehearse on Saturday 15th August 1pm-5pm and make at least 2 of the rehearsal slots listed below (and confirm this as required on the application form).
- Saturday 1st August 10am-1pm
- Sunday 9th August 2pm-5pm
- Sunday 9th August 6pm-9pm
