What is the show?

The BIT’s Christmas show is a fully improvised two-act comedy theatre show that interweaves 3 – 4 storylines with characters who cross over into each other’s lives. Set at Christmas, the show explores different types of relationships (romantic, friendship, family, community) all set within Bristol. The city of Bristol and its stories are a central theme of the show.

The show is family friendly, although it is not created specifically with young children in mind. It will ideally suit ages 12 and up.

What kind of performers are you looking for?

We are looking for 4-5 performers with the following attributes, experience and skills.

ESSENTIAL:

  • Ability to improvise heartfelt, emotionally grounded scenes and stories
  • Ability to multi-role with clear differentiation between characters.
  • Good memory and ability to keep track of multiple storylines and characters in one show
  • Excellent at collaboration with and listening to others
  • Experience of living in Bristol

DESIRABLE:

  • Experience of performing fully improvised narrative or other long-form formats
  • Experience of performing fully improvised shows with runtimes of 30 minutes or longer
  • Ability to play a musical instrument and/or sing
  • Experience of improvising songs on stage
  • Physical theatre skills and experience

We are particularly interested in applications from performers who

  • Are from Bristol and the surrounding areas
  • Are of Global Majority heritage

What will the auditions involve?

The auditions will involve a short check in and welcome from the Director followed by a brief warm up, and then directed improvised scenes set by the director.

Depending on the numbers we have on the day, we may call you back for a second audition later on the same day.

What is the commitment and is it paid?

We are looking for people who can make all of the show dates and the majority of the rehearsal dates. These dates are listed below along with the Audition dates and times.

The production is paid at Equity Fringe rates, working out as £13.65 per hour for rehearsals and shows.
