Imaginary Adventure Club: Paid Opportunity for 2026 (potential to extend into 2027).
The Bristol Improv Theatre is looking to cast 2 actors and one musician for its new family show Imaginary Adventure Club. This show will debut at the Bristol Improv Theatre in May half term 2026, and will then run monthly on the first Saturday of the month from July until November as a trial period with a view to becoming a regular fixture at the Bristol Improv Theatre in 2027.
Imaginary Adventure Club is a fully improvised one-act narrative show with a live improvised soundtrack and a runtime of 45 minutes with wrap-around activities for children aged 3-8 and their families. Before the show the audience is welcomed by the performers as they arrive, with adventure prompts for drawing and colouring. After the show the audience is invited to join a dance party or to do more drawing and colouring in the different spaces of the venue.
Rates of pay for both actors and musician:
Rehearsal £100 per day or £50 per half day
Shows £100 per show (3 hours)

Thursday 30th April 6pm – 9pm

Confident and proficient in the following areas:
- Performing fully improvised narratives
- Performing to a family audience targeting ages 3-8 and their families
- Mime and object work
- Multi-roling and performing distinct characters
- Collaborative performance with other improvisers and musician
- Interacting with children and families before and after the show in character
The following skill/experience areas are desirable but not essential:
- Ability to sing and improvise song lyrics
- Dance performance experience
- Circus skills
- Experience or qualifications in play work

We are looking for a musician who can confidently:
· improvise and adapt soundscapes to create a live soundtrack for the improvised adventures
· play music for a children’s dance party after the show
We are particularly interested in hearing from musicians with the following skills:
- beatboxing
- looping
- DJing
- Ability to create sound effects as well as soundscapes
- Multi-instrumentalist
All roles require the following availability:
REHEARSAL DATES
Equivalent of 2 full days between 1st and 25th May to be confirmed when performers are cast.
