We had such an incredible time hosting this year’s Little Improv Festival. The weekend was a huge success and we were so glad to welcome so many people through our doors to celebrate improv in all it’s glorious forms! A huge thank you to all the instructors, performers, students and audiences that joined us throughout the festival, particularly those who travelled from further afield (we’re looking at you These Folk, Totnes Improv and Exeter Improvisers!).
We’ve put together some photo highlights from the weekend, courtesy of our amazing photographer, Lee Pullen. If you attended the festival, there’s a feedback form at the bottom of the page – we’d greatly appreciate any feedback you can give as it will help us grow and improve future festivals and events! Enjoy scrolling through these beautiful images!
These Folk
Susan Harrison and Justin Brett of Showstopper fame kicked off the Little Improv Festival on Friday 22nd March. During the day, they delivered two fantastic workshops were students were able to learn from their expertise in character work and playing with improv conventions. Then we were treated to an incredible performance of their beautiful improvised folk musical, ‘These Folk’. This was followed by a brilliant performance from local favourites, The Groundhogs!
Bar Programme and Improv Jams
Throughout the day on Saturday 23rd March, our bar was a hub of activity! We had a host of stunning local acts take to the stage in our bar, interspersed with exciting improv jams giving everyone the chance to get involved! Here’s some snaps of the jams and performances from Pressure Cooker, Beansville and Jazz Police!
Improv Workshops
While the bar was buzzing with performances, a selection of our excellent instructors delivered a huge variety of fun and thought-provoking improv workshops in the Theatre and Drawing Room. Topics ranged from bringing improv to work to improv just for fun and even improvising songs! Here’s a few pictures from a couple of those classes.
The Antics Joke Show ft Hell Yeah!
Saturday was wrapped up in spectacular fashion with a stellar show from Up the Antics featuring special guests, Hell Yeah! Plus hilarious improvised stand-up comedy from June Tuesday and excellent compering from Millie Malone!
Improv Meet-Up at Coppa Club
On Sunday morning, we wound down from the festival with a relaxed Improv Meet-Up at Coppa Club in Clifton Village. We met some lovely friends, old and new, and had some great discussions about improv, the festival and the future! Check out these lovely thought bubbles we put together during the event!
