Saturday 15th July – Sunday 16th July | 10:00 – 17:00 (with 1 hour break)
An improv scene doesn’t start with the first line; in fact it doesn’t even need to have a first line. Improvisers can tell a whole story to their audience without ever opening their mouths. In this course we’ll explore how space, mime and gesture can bring richness and authenticity to improvised scenes. Unlocking these worlds will give improvisers new tools for play and comedy, but also a greater capacity to create profundity and poignancy in their work.
Combining exercises inspired by the pedagogy of L’Ecole Internationale Jacques Lecoq and over a decade of teaching and performing improvised theatre shows, Caitlin’s workshop will have her usual focus on listening, detail, and having outrageous amounts of fun.
Experience Level: Improvisors with a decent level of experience looking to expand their tool kit.
About the Instructor
Caitlin is a theatre-maker, actor and teacher currently based in Paris. Improv has taken her all over the world; from performing in a circus tent in Australia, teaching and co-directing in Korea and being rained on for nine years at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She is a co-founder and former Artistic Director of the Bristol Improv Theatre, and taught and developed courses there as a senior instructor for eight years.
