SUMMARY:Improv Drop-ins
DESCRIPTION:Mondays | 19:30 – 21:30\nLooking to stretch your improvising muscles? Then our drop-ins are for you! \nOur drop-ins run every Monday evening and alternate between scene workshops and classes focused on specific skills to help you pad out your improvisers tool-kit. \nDuring our scene workshops\, you’ll receive supportive and constructive side-coaching\, tailored to the group and designed to develop your confidence and improvisation skills. On the other hand\, the regular drop-ins will take a specific skill and explore it through games\, exercises and scenes. \nFacilitated by an experienced Bristol Improv Theatre instructor\, drop-ins are a great chance to try improv at Bristol Improv Theatre and connect with others. \nAny questions\, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at hello@improvtheatre.net. \nIf you are brand new to improv\, you may prefer to try the monthly Improv Taster Session. \nUpdate on Pricing \nFrom 8th May 2023\, we’re reducing the price of our drop-ins in order to make them more accessible during the cost of living crisis. We don’t want money to be a barrier to access so no-one will be turned away due to lack of funds. If you cannot attend an event due to financial barriers\, please feel free to turn up to attend the session or you can reserve a space by emailing us at hello@improvtheatre.net. Please note\, drop-in spaces are limited so we’d recommend reserving a space in advance.  \n(Please note that the new pricing cannot be applied retrospectively to tickets already purchased). \n\n\n

SUMMARY:American Longform Night
DESCRIPTION:Friday 24th November | 20:00 (doors 19:30)\nJoin us for an evening of American Longform\, featuring three of the best longform groups in Bristol doing three completely different formats in one amazing night. \nJazz Police \nAmerican-style longform improv comedy troupe from Bristol. Having performed at the Edinburgh International Improv Festival and the Birmingham Comedy Festival\, explore the world of improv through a hilarious compilation of scenes and bits as these masters of wit take one word and turn it into a show. \n‘Damn near perfect improv’ – The Glasgow Improv Theatre \nThe Groundhogs \nThe Groundhogs – Performers and students from Bristol’s Longform improv community join forces to perform The Detour format; an exploration of all the possible ways that a single scene could have gone…but didn’t. \nArmando House Team\nThe House Armando Team is a loose name for the collection of improvisers who come together when the Improv Theatre needs them most\, and performs the hilarious armando format!  \nOriginated by Armando Diaz\, this format takes its inspiration from an improvised monologue usually given by a guest. Often a stand-up comic or an expert in a given field will give the monologue\, and then the improvisers will take “premises” or elements from the monologue to inspire a series of improvised sketches and scenes  \nOne of the most famous examples is UCB’s ASSSSSCAT shows\, which you can watch on YouTube. They’re hilarious and you’ll probably recognise a lot of actors albeit quite a lot younger

SUMMARY:The Antics Joke Show ft. HOOKED
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 25th November | 20:00 (19:30 doors)\nUp The Antics present their hit monthly night of comedy variety. Including sketches\, stand-up\, and improv\, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. This month’s special guests are social media stars HOOKED!  \nSKETCH COMEDY From HOOKED\nHolly and Brooke are ‘Hooked’ on each other. Sketch and character comedians\, their sketches lambaste\, satirize and celebrate all the fruits in the bowl of life.   \nHooked are hot off their Edinburgh Fringe debut\, ‘Mr Sister’ – in which they received 5 Stars from The British Theatre Guide and were named The Evening Standard’s Top 12 Rising Comedians.  \nHolly and Brooke have 60k followers\, 15 million views & 2 million likes on TikTok and 6k growing followers on Instagram and are all-round legends. \nIMPROV from UP THE ANTICS \nBristol-based Up The Antics (as heard on BBC Radio 4) take us down the rabbit hole of improvised sketch comedy. With the suggestion of a location\, the antics will explore the characters and journeys taken to arrive there\, with hilarious results. \n‘Brilliantly witty’ ★★★★★ Inter:Mission  \n‘Up The Antics are guaranteed to deliver a laugh every minute’ ★★★★ EdFringeReview  \nPlus STAND-UP from: \nLYNSEY HALL \nLynsey Hall is a Bristol-dwelling\, Scottish comedian with a silly\, surreal style. In a previous life she did science comedy\, but aged 29 her immune system threw a wobbler. Now she leads a funny little life trying to avoid death. But an extrovert cannot be contained! So after 5 years out of the game – she’s back\, armed with tall tales! Scatty\, wacky\, and full of nonsense. \nMC – MILLIE MALONE \nThe ‘people’s princess of Bristol comedy’\, Millie Malone is a rising star on the scene. Bringing a unique voice that is as morally dubious as it is flirty and charming\, watching her is like being chatted up and held at knifepoint all at once. Her surreal and punchline heavy sets have taken her to the Edinburgh Fringe\, BBC radio and some of the most renowned clubs in the UK. \n\n\n
