SUMMARY:Unscripted Players Big November Show
DESCRIPTION:Thursday 27th November | 19:30\nFriday 28th November | 19:30\nSaturday 29th November | 19:30\n(Doors open 19:00)\n  \nThe Unscripted Players present two brand new improvised productions in one show! \n___________ \nThis November\, join us for… \n‘G-O-D-S’ directed by Paul Dwyer\nA classic flat-share sitcom – where the roommates just happen to be minor deities from historic and classical pantheons. \n‘I Know What I Saw’ directed by Scott Wilson\nA paranormal investigation where a believer and a sceptic review the evidence for an audience member’s supernatural experience. The cast act out their different versions so that we can make up our own minds. \n___________ \nCreated with the support of the Bristol Improv Theatre\, these two shows were developed from pitches made in August and are directed and performed by members of the Unscripted Players\, the Bristol Improv Theatre’s own amateur improv company. \n  \nThe Bristol Improv Theatre runs the Unscripted Players Big Shows scheme three times a year to spark new ideas and nurture new talent. The scheme has spun out several popular Bristol improv groups in recent years\, including Tales From the Wasteland\, Red Python\, What Happened?\, I Don’t Know What You’ll Do This Summer\, Head Talks\, Fairly Non-Bio and Blame of Thrones to name but a few! \n  \nInterested in pitching a show idea or auditioning to perform in the next Unscripted Players Big Show? SUMMARY:LGBTQ+ Improv Drop-In
DESCRIPTION:Saturdays | 14:00 – 16:00\n\nThis is a fun and friendly workshop led by LGBTQ+  instructors for people who are LGBTQ+\, and is open to all levels. You can be completely new to improv or looking to brush up on your basics and practise improv in a different context.  Sessions will focus on fun\, representing your own identity(ies) in improv\, and connecting with other improvisers. \nWhy are we running these workshops? \nWhilst we aim to be an LGBTQ+ friendly venue and believe that improv is an empowering artform for everyone\, we recognise that for many reasons – not least wanting to avoid stereotypes and prejudice – some people may not feel confident or even safe to be open about their LGBTQ+ identity in classes or when improvising. \nLGBTQ+ improvisers may worry about (or even have experienced) being judged\, misunderstood\, or stereotyped for their identity\, or they may be put off by heteronormative bias (the expectation that heterosexual desire and relationships and binary gender are the default) in improvised scenes. \nThe aim of these workshops is to build community and increase visibility\, and make space for LGBTQ+ stories and experience in improv. This workshop will create a space that allows people to practise bringing their lived experience into their improvisation\, as part of a supportive community. \nA note on the term “LGBTQ+”: \nThe Bristol Improv Theatre uses the term LGBTQ+ as an umbrella term for sexuality and gender identities outside of heterosexuality and the gender binary. The LGBTQ stands for: Lesbian\, Gay\, Bisexual\, Transgender and Queer. The “+” is there to encompass other sexualities and gender identities\, for example asexual\, pansexual\, intersex or non-binary. \nYou will not be expected to disclose how you identify as LGBTQ+ when you join the class – unless you want to! \nTo book your ticket\, simply choose your preferred date below.\n——— \nTicket sales have been moved to our new events site!\nClick here to buy tickets!\n———

SUMMARY:Arabian Nights Live
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 22nd November | 19:30 – 21:30\n(Doors open 19:00)\nA comedy cabaret of Middle Eastern delights!\nA bold\, high-energy interactive variety show unlike anything else at the festival—where ancient epics collide with the beautifully chaotic reality of diaspora life. Brought to you by Europe’s first all-SWANA comedy improv troupe (South West Asian and North African). \nArabian Nights Live is part improv show\, part music gig\, part unruly family gathering. Blending hilarious scenes\, original songs\, and live instrumentation—with no shortage of satire—it reimagines the rebellious spirit of the 1001 Nights tales through a modern lens. \nCaution: There may be camels. \nSmart\, silly\, and refreshingly unfiltered\, the show blends slick improvisation\, musicality\, and joyful subversion to celebrate SWANA identity in all its complexity. \nA night of myth\, music\, and mischief. \nPrevious shows: \n★★★★★ “Sheer Comedy genius… the best improvisation” -Fringe Review \n★★★★ “Inventive\, witty\, brilliantly acted” -Broadway Baby \n

SUMMARY:The Improv Lab
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 22nd November | 14:00 – 17:00\nWelcome to The Improv Lab! Join us at The Bristol Improv Theatre for a Saturday afternoon to watch various groups from the local Bristol improv community. For FREE! \nThese groups could be showcasing brand new shows\, formats\, changes to existing shows or just simply be getting in more practice. You’ll also have a chance to provide valuable feedback and help shape the shows’ futures. \nThe Improv Lab is hosted in the bar of the Bristol Improv Theatre. The bar will be open\, so come on in and enjoy a hot or cold drink with an afternoon of free shows and an improv jam where you can join in. \nDoors open at 2pm and the first show will go on at 2.20pm. When arriving\, please head straight to the bar and grab a seat. Groups may be warming up at the back of the room before the show and during the interval. \n  \nFor November’s Lab\, we have:\n\nChannel Hoppers – A fast-paced\, dynamic improv comedy show\, loosely inspired by the hit TV format Gogglebox. Audience suggestions drive what is performed on the TV\, interspersed with viewers’ reactions\, who wield the ultimate control: they can pause\, rewind\, or fast-forward the action\, forcing instant\, often hilarious\, adjustments from the performers. Changing channels brings a cast rotation and a fresh mix of relationships and comedic connections.\nBlame of Thrones – A gripping political court drama! This royal court is teeming with Machiavellian schemers\, each vying for power. As the Monarch lingers on their deathbed\, who will outmanoeuvre the rest to become the all-powerful successor?\nTales From The Wasteland – Shelter from the nuclear winter inside the safety of our bunker and listen to tales from storytellers from across the wasteland! These tales may feature raiders\, mutants\, adventure\, and\, of course\, will be entirely made up on the spot\, fueled by your suggestions! This absurd dark comedy is inspired by shows such as Fallout and Mad Max.\nUp The Antics’ Christmas Playlist is the new show by the award-winning Bristol-based Sketch and Improv Group. The Antics will perform scenes and sketches inspired by a playlist of festive bangers submitted by you\, the audience!\n– “Brilliantly Witty” EdFringeReview\n– Leicester Square Sketch Off Semi-Finalists\n– Best Episodic – International Comedy Film Festival\n\n  \nIf you have a show that you would like to bring to the lab\, or if you’d like to get involved as a cast member\, director\, photographer or host please email bristolimprovlab@gmail.com or fill in this form with details of the show. To be selected\, the majority of the show must involve improvisation \nTickets are ‘Pay What You Decide’. All funds go straight back into supporting Bristol Improv Theatre\, providing more community events like this one!
