SUMMARY:Double Bill: Glass Imaginary & Michelle
DESCRIPTION:Friday 23rd June | 20:00 (Doors 19:30)\nThe Bristol Improv Theatre presents a double bill of improvised comedy from around the UK. \nGlass Imaginary\nIn The Glass Imaginary\, we improvise a brand new play every evening\, inspired by the works of Tennessee Williams. Lush Southern accents\, unrequited love\, passionately requited love\, and inner turmoil all feature in this unique period piece. Set against the backdrop of the deep south\, where everyone has a role to fulfill in life\, we see characters who struggle to find their place. In 2023\, when the world is again in turmoil and society seems unrecognisable\, this piece takes on new meaning. \nIn the works of Tennessee Williams\, vivid dreams collide with stark reality. Repressed desires\, an excess of emotion\, and poetic language express the inner life of the playwright and each character as they struggle against the confines of society. Tennessee Williams’ goal was to write plays that were ‘a picture of my own heart’; we strive to emulate this approach as we wear our hearts on our sleeves with each show. \nDeveloped in Conjunction with Kaci Beeler of American Berserk Theatre in Austin\, Texas \nClose Quarters by Michelle\nEver wanted to be a fly on the wall? See what zookeepers get up to after hours? The panic in a teacher’s lounge? Explore the web of intrigue in your local leisure centre? \nOne of London’s top improv comedy groups\, Michelle lifts the lid on a location of YOUR choosing! See everyday places in a new light\, stuffed with a whirlwind of absurd characters\, emotional confrontations and quick witted comedy from start to finish.

SUMMARY:BBFC Presents: SPLIT SECOND (1992)
DESCRIPTION:Thursday 22nd June | 20:00\nRutger Hauer is a legend. \nWhether he’s starring in iconic genre films like Blade Runner or The Hitcher or starring in Guinness adverts\, he elevates everything he’s in. \nAs such\, he appeared in his fare share of rubbish films\, but we’re here to tell you that Split Second isn’t one of them! \nAfter all\, how often do you get a film where an alien beast is killing people on the streets of a future-set London while Rutger Hauer charges around in a leather jacket\, shades and guns so big\, there’s no way they’re legal in this country. \nOn top of that\, he’s surrounded by some of the finest British character actors (Alun Armstrong\, Pete Postlewaite\, Jason Watkins) adding a level of class to the whole proceedings. \nThrow in Kim Cattrall and you’ve got a B-movie for the ages! \nIn a flooded future London\, Detective Harley Stone hunts a serial killer who murdered his partner\, and has haunted him ever since. He soon discovers what he is hunting might not be human. \nWATCH THE TRAILER > \nThis film and event is certified ‘18′. \nIn order to make the event as accessible to as many people as possible\, the main feature will be subtitled. \nAll tickets : £5 (All profits will go to Bristol Soup Run Trust) \n“As a throwaway 80’s B-movie you could do much worse. Hauer\, as is his way\, plays the rough and silent type… and there is enough gore\, monsters and violence to satisfy.” – EmpireOnline \n“Split Second isn’t a great movie\, but there’s a great movie within Split Second.” – Outburn \n“Split Second offers up a ton of horror and police clichés placed into a highly original and well done future world\, all aided by some solid performances. Get set to get wet and take some time out to watch Split Second.” – LoveHorror UK
