SUMMARY:American Longform Night
DESCRIPTION:Friday 24th November | 20:00 (doors 19:30)\nJoin us for an evening of American Longform\, featuring three of the best longform groups in Bristol doing three completely different formats in one amazing night. \nJazz Police \nAmerican-style longform improv comedy troupe from Bristol. Having performed at the Edinburgh International Improv Festival and the Birmingham Comedy Festival\, explore the world of improv through a hilarious compilation of scenes and bits as these masters of wit take one word and turn it into a show. \n‘Damn near perfect improv’ – The Glasgow Improv Theatre \nThe Groundhogs \nThe Groundhogs – Performers and students from Bristol’s Longform improv community join forces to perform The Detour format; an exploration of all the possible ways that a single scene could have gone…but didn’t. \nArmando House Team\nThe House Armando Team is a loose name for the collection of improvisers who come together when the Improv Theatre needs them most\, and performs the hilarious armando format!  \nOriginated by Armando Diaz\, this format takes its inspiration from an improvised monologue usually given by a guest. Often a stand-up comic or an expert in a given field will give the monologue\, and then the improvisers will take “premises” or elements from the monologue to inspire a series of improvised sketches and scenes  \nOne of the most famous examples is UCB’s ASSSSSCAT shows\, which you can watch on YouTube. They’re hilarious and you’ll probably recognise a lot of actors albeit quite a lot younger

SUMMARY:Sci-fi Double Feature: Spon Trek: The Next Improvisation and Waiting for Robo(T)
DESCRIPTION:Friday 26th January | 20:00\n  \nIt’s a Science Fiction Double Feature. Two improv shows\, one Sci-Fi theme. Join us for two brand new stories inspired by your favourite shows and science fiction concepts. \n  \nSpon Trek: The Next Improvisation \nSpace: the final frontier. These are the unscripted voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new jokes and new civilizations. To boldly go where no one has gone before! \nAs if there wasn’t quite enough Star Trek right now\, join us for a “wonderfully geeky\,” (Edfringe Review) brand new episode of the cult sci-fi classic. Inspired by your audience suggestions\, this comedic parody is suitable for all levels of nerdiness and Star Trek knowledge\, including none! \n  \nReal Positive Poles are a Bristol based sci-fi improv troupe. Their previous shows have included The Y Files an improvised X Files and After Dusk an improvised Twilight Zone which won best improv show at the Brighton Fringe 2022 and was top 3 shortlisted for best show in all categories. \n“A beautiful demonstration of everything that improvised performance can be” ★★★★★ – The Reviews Hub \n“Quirky\, offbeat and hilarious” – Swindon Fringe Review \n“Absolutely perfect improv” – Starburst Magazine \nWaiting for Robo(t) \nIn the fast-paced modern world of automation and AI assistants\, it’s an increasingly common worry that a robot might one day replace you and make you obsolete. \nBut what if it’s already happening? What if your colleagues\, friends\, family – even yourself – have already been replaced by synthetic imitators? \nWell\, worry no more! GC Industries is proud to present this live demonstration of their groundbreaking Voight-Kampff test. Sit back and watch as our trained interrogator puts an unsuspecting suspect under the spotlight and finds out whether they’re as human as they claim to be. \nFrom the joyful idiots that brought you Steves and Wooster and Holy Unauthorised Improv Parody\, Batman! comes a new show inspired by that one bit from the beginning of Blade Runner. \n  \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Dubious History Double Bill
DESCRIPTION:Friday 31st May | 20:00 (Doors 19:30)\nTwo hilarious\, history-themed improv shows take you back in time to giggle at past events that definitely (didn’t) happen! \nRedpython: An Improvised Historical Adventure \nA comical\, completely improvised romp through the annals of history. Follow our dashing\, daring and (occasionally) dim-witted protagonist\, Redpython as they muddle their way through some of the silliest situations in history. \nSteves and Wooster \nBertie Wooster may be the archetypal rich idiot with no day job\, but he’s never been one to let a lack of competence interfere with his good-natured enthusiasm.\n\nWhether it’s tracking down a lost dog\, extracting a friend from an unfortunate romantic entanglement\, or becoming embroiled in the shenanigans of his fellow young toffs at the Drones Club\, he often finds other people’s problems become his own!\n\nThankfully he can always rely on his valet\, the inimitable Jeeves\, to steer him through troubled waters.\n\nExpect farcical physicality\, quick-change characters\, and rollicking good fun in this entirely improvised (and entirely unauthorised) tribute to the works of P.G. Wodehouse.
