SUMMARY:Interactive Storytelling For Families
DESCRIPTION:Monday 18th December  | 10:00 – 10:45 & 11:00 – 11:45\nThursday 21st December | 10:00 – 10:45 & 11:00 – 11:45\nPLEASE NOTE: This event is taking place at Windmill Hill City Farm\nWindmill Hill City Farm\, Philip Street\, Bedminster\, BS3 4EA \n  \nJoin us at the Windmill Hill City Farm to explore engagin\, winter storytelling through fun and play! Children and their Grown Ups can join in to take part in this workshop using the principles of play and improvisation\, leading to a festive story adventure that the group creates together. \nThere’ll be plenty of action and activity using your body to act out the story. You can join in at your own level with the support of friendly and engaging teachers from the Bristol Improv Theatre. \nYou’ll learn to play and create theatrical stories with experienced instructors. Kids and adults alike will find new skills and have the chance to make new friends. If the weather is bright the workshop will take place in the farm’s beautiful outdoor theatre space (bring a coat!)\, and if it is very cold or rainy it will move indoors and become a little more cosy – but still with plenty of space to move around. \nGrown ups are actively encouraged to participate – why should the kids have all the fun! \nPlease note: children MUST be accompanied by an adult to attend this workshop – it is not a drop-off play activity. Our suggested age range is 3 – 9* \n*Children younger than 3 are welcome if an older sibling is attending\, as long as they are supervised. Please contact us if you have any questions.

SUMMARY:Up The Antics New Year’s Eve Party
DESCRIPTION:Sunday 31st December | 19:00 – Late\nBack from the success of their sold out New Year’s Eve party in 2022\, Up The Antics have put together a stellar line-up to bring in 2024 at the Bristol Improv Theatre. This year’s line-up will include solo improv\, fringe favourites and award-winning sketch legends\, plus music in the bar to see us into the new year.  \nKI SHAH’S ONE-OFFS \nJoin improv disruptor Kierann Shah for her one-woman improvised stand up and sketch show\, inspired by one word from the audience with no script. Awkward? Yes. Funny? Absolutely. Kierann is an improviser\, actor and writer formerly based in Leicester. She performs regularly with Midlands groups Tiny Stories and Rhymes Against Humanity. \nDegrees of Error present: Resolutions from Last Year\n\nNew Year’s Resolutions can be funny things – they start with the best of intentions but they never quite turn out how you expected! From the deranged minds that brought you the hit improvised whodunnit Murder\, She Didn’t Write comes a show inspired by the audience’s resolutions and exploring the space where noble aims for the year ahead collide with hilarious unintended consequences.\n\nSKETCH from UP THE ANTICS \nUp The Antics (as heard on BBC Radio 4 Extra) bring a showcase of some of their best sketches. After 10+ years of performing together\, 4 Edinburgh Fringe shows releasing an award-winning sketch comedy pilot\, and establishing a hit monthly night of comedy variety\, there’s some gems to choose from!  \nLeicester Square Sketch-Off Semi-Finalists  \n“Brilliantly Witty” ★★★★★ Inter:Mission  \n“Up The Antics are guaranteed to deliver a laugh every minute” ★★★★ EdFringeReview  \nAfter the shows\, we will have MUSIC in the bar to keep us dancing until 2024! \nEvent Timings:\n7pm: Fizz Reception \n8pm – 10.30pm: Performances \n10.30pm – Late: Dancing in the bar to see in the New Year! \nTicket includes a glass of prosecco on arrival.

SUMMARY:Feminist Paintalong
DESCRIPTION:Friday 29th March – Abstract Uterus | 15:00 – 17:00\n\n\nCome join local artist GeetLush at the Bristol Improv Theatre for a feminist paintalong to remember. What better way to celebrate the season of fertility and new life\, than by gathering together to paint a womb? That’s right – this month we will be painting an abstract uterus for you to take home and hang in pride of place for Easter. \nDon an apron\, take a seat at an easel and follow my step-by-step guidance as you make your very own abstract uterus masterpiece. Expect a relaxed social environment where you can explore your inner artist and create something you’ll be truly proud of as well as be around like-minded people and learn a little bit about the human body.  There is plenty of time to go at your own pace and there will be help on hand if you need it\, it’s a perfect way to get into painting! \nTicket price includes a glass of bubbly (non-alcoholic options and hot drinks available if Prosecco isn’t for you!) \nAudience Feedback \n“I did a paintalong with Karen\, she was really patient with us all in the group\, she gave us the confidence and the space to create our own art in our own style\, while still making sure we were following along! Such a great experience. I’d definitely do it again!” \n“Such a fun painting workshop\, supportive and encouraging! Really fun day out! Would go again!” \n“I loved it! I learnt more about the vulva than any sex education class at school. To this day\, I wow people with my vulva knowledge AND I took home an amazing piece of art\, which I created.” \nAll materials included and no experience necessary. We do advise you to wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy in as we will be using acrylic paint. \nTickets Available through GeetLush’s website >

SUMMARY:Up The Antics Summer Party
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 27th July | 20:00 (doors open 19:30)\nThis summer\, Up The Antics bottle up the summer spirit and let it loose in a cool basement in Clifton. In a diversion from their usual “Antics Joke Show”\, the summer party is a free entry event featuring some of the best improv groups that the Antics really want to perform with\, but haven’t had the chance to. \nFull Line-Up:\n \nUP THE ANTICS\nBristol-based Up The Antics (BBC Radio 4 Extra) take us down the rabbit hole of improvised sketch comedy. With the suggestion of a location\, the antics will explore the characters and journeys taken to arrive there\, with hilarious results. \nLeicester Square Sketch-Off Semi-Finalists  \n“Brilliantly Witty” ★★★★★ Inter:Mission  \n“Up The Antics are guaranteed to deliver a laugh every minute” ★★★★ EdFringeReview  \nPRESSURE COOKER\nThe improvised restaurant show (From the cast of The Bish Bosh Bash and the creators of Tales of Adventure). \nStep into our restaurant\, where the experience is different every single night! Our performers take ingredients from the audience’s suggestions to create recipes for wacky\, funny\, and silly stories.  \nYou’ll see how the front-of-house\, back-of-house\, and customers deal with wildly unpredictable situations and character tales\, serving up all-you-can-eat laughs. \nAs our Head Chef always says… “If you can’t handle the heat\, you won’t make an omelette”. \nSECRETS FROM THE SIXTH FLOOR \nJoin us for a show where all of the characters work or live on the ‘sixth floor’ of a city high rise. Secrets are told\, secrets unfold\, secrets implode. \nBRISTOL LONGFORM TAKEOVER TEAM \nBristol Longform Comedy put together a crack team of improvisers to bring some longform hilariousness to the summer party!  \nTickets are “pay what you decide”. Please book your ticket below and use the donation box to decide how much you would like to pay.

SUMMARY:Unscripted Players Big Summer Show
DESCRIPTION:Thursday 8th August | 20:00\nFriday 9th August | 20:00\nSaturday 10th August | 20:00\nThis Summer. Two original improvised productions. One Big Show!\nPresented\, directed and performed by the Unscripted Players\, the Bristol Improv Theatre’s amateur improv company.  \nFeaturing: \n‘Head Talks’ by Katherine Olive\nTake your seats for a TED-style talk like you’ve never seen before (and will never see again). This is HEAD-Talks. \nAn esteemed panel of ‘experts’ are tasked to give presentations on any topic imaginable – from life-changing experiences to ground-breaking discoveries to a new invention that’s set to change the world. The only thing is… they haven’t seen the accompanying slide-show before… \nCome and watch as the world’s brightest minds do battle with surprising slides. They’ll grapple with goofy graphs\, stumble over stupendous stock-images and get taken aback by tricksome texts. Accompanied by a charming but devious host\, HEAD-Talks is sure to be a show full of hilarity (but perhaps less full of facts!). \n‘I Don’t Know What You’ll Do This Summer’ by Charlie Hutchence\nThis summer a group of friends will set out the trip of their lives. But all is not well as a mysterious and yet to be determined force puts them all in peril.\n\nWill they blindly ignore sensible warnings from strangers in petrol stations? Why can’t they just use their phones to get help? How could anyone think this is worth a direct to dvd sequel?\n\nSee how it all goes wrong for our characters and their friendships.\n\nA comedy inspired by teen horror films from the 90’s and 00’s.
