SUMMARY:The Antics Joke Show Ft Waiting for Robo(T)
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 22nd April | 20:00\nTHE ANTICS JOKE SHOW\nUp The Antics present their hit format of comedy variety\, featuring the best  stand-up\, improv & sketch comedy. This month\, they will be joined by Tally Ho’s production Waiting for Robo(T)\,  a hilarious improvised science fiction show based on the Voight-Kampff test. \nSKETCH FROM UP THE ANTICS\n\nUp The Antics have been performing together for over a decade\, including 4 Edinburgh Fringe shows\, appearances on BBC Radio 4 Extra and establishing the hit monthly night “Antics Joke Show”. This month\, expect to see a “best of” selection of some of their sketches from the last 12 years. \nFeatured on BBC Radio 4\nPhilip DeFranco’s Secret Link of the Day\n‘A Real Romp’ ★★★★★ Inter:Mission\n‘Brilliantly Witty’ – ★★★★ EdFringeReview \n\nIMPROV FROM WAITING FOR ROBO(T)\n\nIn the fast-paced modern world of automation and AI assistants\, it’s an increasingly common worry that a robot might one day replace you and make you obsolete. \nBut what if it’s already happening? What if your colleagues\, friends\, family – even yourself – have already been replaced by synthetic imitators? \nWell\, worry no more! GC Industries is proud to present this live demonstration of their groundbreaking Voight-Kampff test. Sit back and watch as our trained interrogator puts an unsuspecting suspect under the spotlight and finds out whether they’re as human as they claim to be. \nFrom the joyful idiots that brought you Steves and Wooster and Holy Unauthorised Improv Parody\, Batman! comes a new show inspired by that one bit from the beginning of Blade Runner. \nSTAND-UP FROM SHIRLEY HALSE\n\nShirley Halse is a comedian\, writer and producer. In 2018 she set up the popular book themed comedy night The Alternative Book Club\, performing the show regularly in Cheltenham as well as touring the show to various festivals\, including the Stratford Literary Festival\, Cheltenham Literature Festival\, Green Man\, 2000 Trees and the Edinburgh Fringe. \n“funny\, friendly and focused” – The Scotsman \n\n\nMC – James Crawley  \nJames Crawley is a storytelling stand up and MC known for his mix of contemplative wit and unabashed silliness. First making his face known in the South West comedy scene in 2017\, he is now an established part of the Cheltenham Comedy scene – hosting regular stand up gigs and performing improvised comedy. James is also recognised on comedy line-ups in Bath\, Bristol\, Birmingham and beyond. \n\n“Sharp-tongued with the savvy and prowess of a seasoned veteran in the comedy game that help accompany his fast-paced semi-improvised comedic style that the audience adore.” – Out of The Box Productions\n\n\n  \n

SUMMARY:ShakeItUp: The Improvised Shakespeare Show
DESCRIPTION:Friday 14th April | 20:00 (Doors open 19:30)\nShakespeare hasn’t written anything new for an age\, so we thought we would give him a hand… Using his language\, your audience suggestions\, and our overactive imaginations\, we create a brand-new Shakespeare play live on stage. Complete with live music\, songs\, and plenty of laughs! \n FIVE STARS – “Quick witted\, inexhaustible and absolutely hysterical.” \nLondon Theatre Reviews \nFOUR STARS – “Laugh out-loud hilarious […] a great night out” \nBroadway World \nAt a ShakeItUp show\, you get to help our intrepid improvisors make up an entirely new Shakespeare play on the spot! Pick your authentic Shakespearean genre: Epic History\, Romantic Comedy\, or Gruesome Tragedy. Choose the location of where we will lay our scene\, our hero’s name\, and even their day-job! Pen your wittiest Shakespearean line for our brave actors to pull from their suitably-Shakespearean breeches when they need a helping hand. The twist? They’ll have no idea what the line will be before they say it! \nThen sit back and watch the hilarity unfold as we improvise a totally authentic (and totally bonkers) play that Willy Shakes himself would be proud of! Accompanied by improvised song and music from our talented (and flexible) ShakeItUp Band\, expect big laughs\, high drama\, and a healthy dose of rhyming couplets.
