DESCRIPTION:October 22nd – December 10th | Wednesdays | 18:30 – 2100 (Showcase on 10th December)\n———————(No class on November 26th)———————\n\nThis course will undoubtedly make you a better improviser.\n\nThe Harold improv format is an essential skill set for anyone looking to upgrade their improv to the next level.\nIt pushes you to listen more deeply\, play with greater creativity\, and build stories that stick with an audience far beyond a single scene. Whether you’ve been performing The Harold for a while or have only heard rumours about it\, these 6 x workshops will guide you through both foundations and advanced techniques\, all while boosting your confidence in a fun\, supportive\, and welcoming space.\n\nAnd when it comes to your instructor there’s no one better to learn The Harold from. Maria Peters trained directly with Charna Halpern\, the actual co-creator of the format. She spent months studying with instructors from iO and Second City Chicago\, UCB New York and brings over a decade of experience performing around the world.\n\nHere are some of the things you’ll walk away with from the course: \n\n\n\n\nGroup Mind – Practical techniques that lead to that elusive\, abstract\, and magical thing when an ensemble seems to be thinking with one mind.\n\n\nLong-Form Storytelling – We’re not talking about the classic narrative ‘hero’s journey’ or ‘once upon a time’ narrative structure here. You’ll learn the 3-stranded framework that almost all Television episodes are based upon. You’ll weave characters arcs and themes throughout. All while building satisfying endings to shows that feel like powerful scripted narratives.\n\n\nAdvanced Editing Skills – You’ll have a better sense of scenic timing as well as greater confidence in entering or ending scenes.\n\n\nAmerican Style Improv – The Harold is the foundation for a lot of long-form improv worldwide. Knowing it will help you wrap your head around loads of other formats as well as giving you the tools and inspiration to create your own.

SUMMARY:Level 3: Performing Improv - Creating Characters
DESCRIPTION:28th October – 9th December | Tuesdays | 18:30 – 21:00\nBe anyone (or anything) you want to be – in improv\, the possibilities are limitless! But where to start? When you’re making spontaneous creative choices and responding on-the-fly\, it can be difficult to play a character who feels different from yourself. There’s often so much going on that you hardly have room to think about being someone else. \nThis seven-week course introduces the tools\, techniques\, and tricks used to create characters on-the-spot. You’ll explore how characters can emerge and grow through physicality\, status\, and the relationships between characters – building your confidence in stepping into another person’s shoes when you perform.\n \nWho is this course for? \n\nStudents who have completed Discovering Improv & Intro to Performing Improv and want to take the next step\nPerformers who have some improv experience and want to develop their improvised characterisation skills \nAnyone who has learned improv elsewhere and wants to start learning with the BIT school\n\n\n      \n        \n      \n    \nCLASS DETAILS\nThis course consists of 7 sessions that last for 2.5 hours each\, and will be taught by an experienced facilitator. Places are capped at 12. Like all our Performing Improv courses\, the 7th week includes a showcase performance to a supportive audience of friends\, family\, and fellow students.

From your suggestions\, each will weave a Halloween tale in starkly different styles\, taking sinister and silly tropes from film\, TV\, literature and pop culture for a night of eerie entertainment.  You decide which stories to keep… and which to kill! At each stage\, the audience decides until we’re left with one final girl winning director to lead us to the finale. \nA night of suspenseful and silly performances to celebrate the spirit of All Hallows’ Eve\, brought to you by the Bish Bosh Bash team\, who have delighted audiences with goofy games and tomfoolery for over 7 years! You will laugh\, you will gasp\, you will want to keep the lights on when you go to bed… \nArrive tricked-out in fancy dress and we’ll treat you to a glass of our Halloween punch on the (haunted) house! \nOur fully stocked bar will be decked out for Halloween! The bar is open for the interval and before and after the show\, serving Bristol Beer Factory draught and cans alongside an array of cocktails\, spirits\, soft drinks\, tea\, coffee and snacks.  \nCheck out our Halloween-themed cocktails on the night\, and stick around to enjoy our spooky songs playlist after the show.
