SUMMARY:Bumper Bank Holiday Improv Triple Bill
DESCRIPTION:Friday 3rd May | 20:00 (Doors 19:30)\nStart your bank holiday weekend with a bonus bumper bonanza of brilliant Bristolian improv with not one\, not two\, but THREE different acts taking you to different improv worlds. \nFeaturing an imagined insight into film development from The Table Read\, lively dystopian Tales From the Wasteland\, and from a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind: After Dusk\, improv inspired by the Twilight Zone. \nReal Positive Poles present: After Dusk: The Improvised Twilight Zone \nYou walk into a play but none of the actors have learned their lines\, because there are none. This show hasn’t been written yet. A nightmare or a dream? Who’s to say? Up ahead there’s a sign. We take a turning through your imagination and arrive at your final destination: An improvised twist on The Twilight Zone! \nAccompanied by a live violinist\, some of Bristol’s best improvisers create a brand-new episode of the classic science fiction show which inspired Black Mirror. Suitable for all levels of nerdiness and Twilight Zone knowledge\, including none! \nReal Positive Poles are a Bristol based sci-fi improv troupe. Their show After Dusk an improvised Twilight Zone won best improv show at the Brighton Fringe 2022 and was top 3 shortlisted for best show in all categories. \n“A beautiful demonstration of everything that improvised performance can be” ★★★★★ – The Reviews Hub \n“Quirky\, offbeat and hilarious” – Swindon Fringe Review \n“Absolutely perfect improv” – Starburst Magazine \nTales from the Wasteland \nIf the world was ending\, what would be the one thing you’d want to survive? This band of dystopian adventurers will explore a new world and find out what’s left over after Earth’s devastation. Expect raiders\, mutants and violence over scarce resources in this absurd dark comedy inspired by classics of the genre such as Mad Max\, The Last of Us and Fallout. \nDeveloped through the Bristol Improv Theatre’s Unscripted Players programme\, Tales from the Wasteland’s energetic dissection of post-apocalyptic tropes has taken on a life of its own that no scientist could have predicted! \nThe Table Read \nEvery classic movie had to start somewhere. But do you ever wonder what happened at the very first table read? Or if we would recognise our favourite\, most iconic films from the directors earliest ideas? Wonder no more\, as the Table Read take you back in time to show you the journey from moviescriptFIRSTDRAFT.doc all the way to screentestfinal_LASTVERSION_final_FINAL.mov\, exploring the history of a movie based on your suggestions. \n
