Last Chance to Join Our Board of Trustees – Help Shape the Future of Bristol Improv Theatre

We are doing one final recruitment period for our Board of Trustees!

Bristol Improv Theatre is a registered charity (charity number: 1207613).  We seek individuals who can help us develop a sustainable business model, refine our staff model and carry out our charitable mission – ‘to advance the arts for the public benefit, through the promotion of improvisational theatre’.

Trustee primary goals are to:

  • Develop a sustainable business model to ensure the longevity of the theatre,
  • Build a cash reserve,
  • Develop a new fundraising strategy,
  • Maintain our values of inclusivity and equality, such as maintaining an inclusive space for the trans, LGBTQ+, and all underrepresented communities,
  • Make our venue accessible to all,
  • Enact our DEI action plan to diversify our programme,
  • Reach a wider audience base with a new marketing strategy, and
  • Continue to professionalise our operations and improve our working practices.

Desirable Experience (any of the following):

  • Writing grant applications & sponsorship requests,
  • Restructuring business models, staffing & achieving organisational sustainability, 
  • Fundraising
  • Accounting to the extent of being comfortable acting as a Treasurer, 
  • HR & employment law,
  • Access & inclusion, or
  • Computer operating and website development.

Eligibility 

Unfortunately, due to the conflict of interest, no current or intended performers of the Bristol Improv Theatre can act as Trustees. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.

Anyone and everyone over 21 years old is welcome to apply, however we are especially keen to hear from people whose identities or backgrounds are underrepresented in our organisation. In particular, we encourage applications from women; trans and non-binary people; people from Black, Asian, traveller, mixed heritage or other global majority backgrounds; Disabled people; and people who are LGBTQ+. 

Ideally, applicants will be Bristol-based.
