Improv & Drama Summer School 2021

Improv & Drama Summer School 2021

Brave Bold Drama and Bristol Improv Theatre are delighted to offer a 5-day summer school for primary age children, with a focus on play, speaking & social skills.

In small groups (2 professional, DBS checked instructors per 12 children), participants will be given a safe, structured environment through which to explore performance and storytelling activities which will be confidence building, beneficial for well-being and creating opportunities for children to work together to create fun improvised stories.

Meet the Summer School Team!

What to Expect

Each day starts at 10 am and finishes at 3.30 pm, with an pick-up and drop-off window of 30 minutes either side of them. The sessions are led by skilled improv & drama instructors with strong backgrounds in working with young people.

Groups will be divided by age, and work with the same group during the school

The week will include:
  • Spontaneity – building your confidence to perform on the spot
  • Trust and teamwork
  • Fun, energising games and exercises
  • Storytelling skills
  • Ensemble movement and stagecraft
  • Creating characters through voice and physicality
What to bring

Please ensure your child:

  • Arrives in good time during the 9.30 – 10 am drop off slot and is picked up between 3.30 and 4 pm.
  • Wears comfortable clothing and footwear that allows them to move freely
  • Bring a packed lunch, some snacks (NO NUTS)
  • Bring a bottle of water
  • We ask that your child arrives with suncream already applied or that your child is self-sufficient in applying suncream themselves – we cannot do it for them
Performance

There will be an informal sharing at 2.30 pm on the Friday. Pending government guidelines, parents & guardians will be invited to attend.

If your child has any additional support needs, please get in touch to discuss before booking by emailing hello@improvtheatre.net. We are unable to provide 1:1 support but are happy to discuss what accommodations may be possible,  including the attendance of carers.
