Longform Improv Workshop

Tuesday 13th March 8pm - 10pm

This event is now over. Check the What's On for upcoming events!

The Bristol Longform Improv Workshop is a weekly drop-in for improvisers who are interested in American-style longform comedic improvisation.

Workshops feature a heavy emphasis on scenework fundamentals and establishing truthful, grounded characters with fun comedic patterns.

Our drop-ins are focusing on Agreement and this workshop is looking at playing "peas in a pod" i.e. when multiple characters in a scene are unusual in the same way.

We'll look at how to play these scenes in a grounded and believable way, while maintaining the fun.

These sessions are OPEN TO ALL, but prior scenework experience and some knowledge of non-narrative longform is recommended.

Steve Hartill is a teacher and fundraiser at the Bristol Improv Theatre and a former president of the University of Bristol Improv Society.

An experienced actor and stage coach, Steve performs with theatre company Degrees of Error, whose improvised murder-mystery play, Murder, She Didn't Write recently celebrated its forth consecutive sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it was featured on BBC Radio 2.
