These Folk is a tight, funny, heartwarming show performed by two of the most experienced improvisers in the UK.
Inspired by suggestions from the audience, Justin Brett and Susan Harrison create an entirely improvised, song-filled folk musical accompanied by guitar and cajon. Everything is made up on the spot, the characters, the folklore, the story, the harmonies, the lyrics and the music.
Expect laughs, moving moments and delight along the way.
These Folk debuted in Rome in 2019 as part of Bugiardini’s Welcome Festival of Improvised Theatre.
Susan Harrison and Justin Brett are long-standing members of the Olivier Award Winning Showstopper! The Improvised Musical and have performed with them at the Edinburgh Fringe, as well as in the West End, throughout the UK and Internationally. They have also performed in many annual London Improvathons and between them have guested with numerous acclaimed improv groups including GTI, Austentatious and Mischief Movie Night In.
“These Folk is really funny, right off the bat….a perfect blend of self-awareness, with a commitment to the story and its characters – no matter how silly” (indiependent.co.uk)
‘These Folk is that rare combo of beautiful and funny…I walked away completely inspired’ (Kevin John Gillese, former AD of Dad’s Garage Theatre Co. USA)
With Support from Steves and Wooster
Tally-ho old bean! Expect farcical physicality, quick-change characters, and rollicking good fun in this entirely improvised (and entirely unauthorised) comedy tribute to the works of P.G. Wodehouse.
Bertie Wooster may be the archetypal rich idiot with no day job, but he’s never been one to let a lack of competence interfere with his good-natured enthusiasm. Thankfully he can always rely on his valet, the inimitable Jeeves, to steer him through troubled waters.
