The Bish Bosh Bash | Rehearsal Diary | September

The Bish Bosh Bash is just around the corner! This season's new, mainstage comedy show is packed full of silly games, songs and a very special golden welly! As the company prepare for their third show, we caught up with improviser Beth Rudkin to find out how rehearsals have been going…

After the success of our first couple of shows, team Bish and team Bosh have been back at it in rehearsals, playing games, singing, dancing and having a silly old time!

Each rehearsal has focused on a different aspect of the show or learning new skills. Last week we spent three hours singing improvised songs, which was just delightful. (Behind the scenes gossip: There may or may not have been a song about a 'crab who dabs' with accompanying dance moves…)

Singing comes naturally to some but not to all (it's certainly taken me out of my comfort zone!) but luckily because we are such a tight bunch, the space we've created together is one where we can practice aspects of improv that we might not usually get to try. Where there is support, encouragement and laughter, unexpected and wonderful things can happen!

We've also been exploring traditional comedy and clowning skills in the form of Commedia dell'arte. Physical comedy is a big part of this show which I absolutely love. I'm sure our mischievous sides will come out once again in the next show!

Our last Bish Bosh Bash was so full of energy and playfulness, with everyone working together to delight each other, which I'm sure will keep happening in new and wonderful ways.

I'm super excited to get back to performing with this talented bunch, and seeing where the various games will take us!
